Lanark Rugby Football Club First XV

The First XV (often written 1st XV) at Lanark Rugby Football Club First XV is the club’s senior men’s rugby team. In rugby union, “First XV” refers to the top or primary team of a club, made up of the best available fifteen players selected to represent the club in competitive matches.

At Lanark Rugby Club, the First XV represents the highest level of senior rugby within the club structure and is the team that competes in official league or development fixtures against other clubs.

What the First XV represents

  • The senior competitive team of the club
  • A pathway for players progressing from youth rugby
  • The main team representing the club in matches and competitions.
  • A focal point for club identity, community support and player development

In many community rugby clubs like Lanark, the First XV is also important for mentoring younger players, creating a pathway from mini and youth rugby into adult rugby, and helping build the long-term strength of the club.
